Sarah Jessica Parker has addressed Kim Cattrall’s upcoming appearance in the series “And Just Like That…”
Last month, it was announced that Cattrall would be reprising her role as Samantha Jones in the second season of the “Sex and the City” sequel series. The news of her return prompted fans to comment on the chemistry between Cattrall and the rest of the cast.
For years, rumors have circulated about a “mean-girls culture” being responsible for the end of the original series. However, Parker has now described Cattrall’s brief cameo as “really fun and exciting and certainly nostalgic.”
“It has brought a lot of joy,” added Parker.
Cattrall’s highly anticipated return has also prompted other cast members, such as Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, to break their silence on the matter.
Last week, Davis acknowledged fans’ disappointment with Cattrall’s limited involvement in the spinoff. However, she personally does not have strong feelings about it.
“I’m not going to waste energy on it. I can’t change anybody. I understand fans’ feelings—that they’re upset… I wish I could fix it, but I can’t. It’s not in my power,” said Davis.
Meanwhile, Nixon openly discussed Cattrall’s unexpected return, noting that it was not a topic of discussion among the cast. Nixon also hinted at an uneasy atmosphere caused by Cattrall’s departure from the original “SATC” cast.
“But the main thing that felt so great was that everybody who was there really wanted to be there. That’s just the bottom line. We all love each other, we love our show, we wanted to do more of it. And we all wanted to be there,” Nixon expressed.
