It looks like the drama between Britney Spears and the San Antonio Spurs security director won’t result in any criminal charges.
According to TMZ, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced on Friday that no charges would be filed against Damian Smith, the head of the team’s security who was guarding Victor Wembanyama in Las Vegas Wednesday. Spears filed a police report, claiming that Smith backhanded her when she tapped the NBA rookie on the shoulder. The pop star has maintained that she was simply trying to congratulate the young man and take a photo with him. Instead, she was met with a slap that sent her to the ground. Her husband, Sam Asghari, backed her claims and called for Smith to be held responsible.
Sources have given conflicting reports of what took place. However, TMZ obtained footage of the incident Friday and released it to the public, which shows the pop star tailing behind the ball player, yelling “sir, sir,” and then reaching to tap him. You then see Victor’s security guard forcefully slap her hand, which either leads to his hand hitting her face directly or causing her hand to hit her face due to the impact.
Yesterday 19-year-old spoke out, explaining that Spears actually grabbed him from behind instead of tapping his shoulder. However, the video does not support his claim. Britney also said she fell to the ground, however, the video does not support that claim either.
