Amid mounting allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse, R.Kelly is also embroiled in a lawsuit over his alleged affair with a Mississippi man’s wife. But now, as Kelly attempts to fight the suit, he’s hired an attorney that’s well known to the plaintiff.
In legal docs obtained by The Blast, filed on December 12, Kenny Bryant – the sheriff deputy who sued Kelly for allegedly having an affair with his ex-wife Asia Bryant-Childress – demanded Kelly’s lawyer, Felecia Perkins, be deemed ineligible to represent the singer given her recent work history.
According to Bryant, Perkins also represented his ex-wife, Asia, in their divorce case, which makes her a witness in his case against Kelly.
“In the course of her representation of Ms. Childress, Ms. Perkins would have participated in conversations with her client and others about the circumstances leading up to and resulting in her desire to end her marriage to Mr. Bryant,” the legal docs read. “On information and belief, these conversations included conversations about Ms. Childress’s sexual relationship with R.Kelly, and further included numerous conversations with R.Kelly and/or his representatives, as well as other witnesses.”
As a result, Bryant believes Perkins’ representation of Kelly creates a conflict of interest, so he wants her off the case. However, a judge has yet to rule on the matter.
In the meantime, Bryant’s lawsuit against Kelly over his alleged affair with Asia is still ongoing.
