A man with his social security number tattooed on his forehead has been sentenced to 42 years in prison for a string of robberies.
43-year-old Robert Charles Wooten received the 42-year sentence following a two-day trial for robbing multiple phone stores and other stores in 2017 during the week of Christmas. A Houston jury deliberated for two hours before returning the guilty verdict, convicting him of five counts of interference with commerce by robbery and five related charges of using, carrying, or brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
U.S. District Lynn H. Hughes sentenced Wooten to a combined 80-month sentence for the robberies and an additional 420 months for the firearms charges, which is to be served consecutively.
Wooten robbed a Walgreens store on December 25th by waiting in line before approaching the cashier and demanding money and cigarettes. He committed similar robberies on December 27th and the 28th at two separate Metro PCS stores. On December 29th, he robbed a Bayou Pawn after acting like he was interested in selling a bicycle. The same day, his son unsuspectingly drove him to another Metro PCS store, which he robbed. His son realized what had happened and alerted authorities. He also robbed a Family Dollar during this timeframe.
