Friend of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Shamea Morton, says she had to turn down getting a peach and being a full-time member of the hit reality series.
Over the years, we’ve grown to love Morton just as we love the ladies of RHOA. However, some fans have always wondered: Why doesn’t Morton have a peach? In an interview with The Jasmine Brand, Morton explains that her decision against being on the full-time was a decision she had to make in the best interest of her family.
According to Morton, there have been “several” offers for her to join the show full-time. However, her husband is hesitant about being on reality TV has blocked it from happening.
“When you are a peach holder, you have to show all of your life, and that includes my husband,” Morton explains. “And, whereas he supports me being part of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, he doesn’t want to be a part of it. So, I have to respect that. My family and my home life is my priority. And I guess for as long as he won’t be a part of the show, I won’t hold a peach.”
But Morton isn’t bothered by any means. Morton, a former NBA dancer, says she’s getting the best of both worlds being on the show and having her privacy, adding that she doesn’t want fame. “I’m fortunate enough to be able to hang out and play with the girls as a friend, and I’m OK in my friend role,” she says. “I would love to be able to showcase all access of my life, but I’m OK with not having a peach. I’m financially stable; I’m happy in my marriage, I’m happy in my home…”
Morton has been married to businessman Gerald Mwangi since 2017 and the two have a daughter together.
Morton has appeared on the reality series since 2015.
