Shannon Sharpe has been making headlines lately and not in a positive way.
First, he was hit with a $50 million sexual assault lawsuit from a Jane Doe. Now, a previously undisclosed 2023 defamation lawsuit filed by an ex-girlfriend has resurfaced.
Michele Bundy Evans, who says she dated the former NFL star for nearly 10 years, filed a lawsuit in late 2023 accusing Sharpe of defamation, libel, and slander. Evans also says he raped her back in 2010.
She claims the assault happened after an argument about cheating. In her lawsuit, she said Sharpe “forced” her to perform oral sex, then pushed her onto the bed and raped her, allegedly telling her, “I’ll make it so no other man will want you.”
Evans says she was terrified and felt like saying no would only make things worse. She also claims Sharpe threatened to ruin her life if she spoke out.
“He said he’d use everyone he knows to destroy me,” she alleged.
Evans also says Sharpe made public comments that damaged her rep, which is part of why she sued him for defamation.
After the 2010 incident, she filed a restraining order but says she dropped it out of fear for her safety and her child.
“Somebody came to my door and said, ‘Shut up f–king bitch,’” she told The U.S. Sun. “I dropped it right then. I had a child with me. That was it.”
Sharpe, 56, hasn’t responded personally, but his rep told Page Six, “Michele Evans’ claims are ridiculous and completely without merit.”
“She could not find a lawyer to take her case and if you read her complaint, you’ll see it is filled with nonsense. Shannon has had no contact with her for many years and we understand that she is still on probation after serving three years in prison.”
