Gabrielle Union and NBC held a nearly five-hour meeting on Tuesday, with both parties ultimately referring to the conversation as “productive.” Union tweeted Wednesday that she shared her “unfiltered truth” in the discussion. However, it looks like Simon Cowell may be in hot water with the network.
A crucial part of the discussion yesterday revolved around Cowell’s strict and often uncomfortable overseeing of ”America’s Got Talent.” ”While there will be a further investigation to get a deeper understanding of the facts, we are working with Gabrielle to come to a positive resolution, NBC reps stated.
However, an insider close to the network gave further insight into actions that need to be taken going forward.” The ball is in NBC’s court to see if they can get Cowell to agree to make some changes to the way things are done on the show,” the insider said.
A key determination of the meeting was that further investigation into AGT creator Cowell would be necessary to get to the bottom of exactly what was going on behind the scenes during Union’s one season on the show. An independent investigator is likely to be utilized to conduct this investigation.
Following the Union and NBC fallout, former judges Howard Stern and Sharon Osbourne have voiced their support for Union. Stern referred to Union’s firing as “orchestrated” by Cowell.
