Simon Guobadia Says He and Trump Are “Misunderstood” After 4 Months Locked Up by ICE

After spending four months in ICE detention, Simon Guobadia, the ex-husband of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Porsha Williams, is taking a surprisingly calm tone when it comes to Donald Trump and his administration.

“Donny, like I refer to him, we are very similar,” Guobadia told Us Weekly. “We’re both Geminis, and some of his antics – I certainly can understand it. Sometimes [I would] say that we are misunderstood.”

Despite being detained and ultimately deported to Nigeria, Guobadia holds no resentment.

“I don’t have any animosity towards the situation. I don’t have any problems with Donald Trump like any other CEO or chief executive, who I am. We look to hire the best people we can find. And the issues that he’s dealing with are no different than any other organization.”

He added, “I feel that I have a very unique perspective on this situation, considering that I was there for as long as I was. And there are so many things that I saw that I feel that I can help the administration with.”

Guobadia, who was taken into custody in February, described his experience as mentally challenging, citing terrible food, overcrowding, and poor staffing.

“I understood why people would kill themselves… you start to understand why people do what they do.”

Still, he supports peaceful protest, stating, “Protest is normal, is encouraged…as long as it results in reforms.”
