A small plane has crashed in Northeast Philadelphia, sparking panic just two days after the deadly American Airlines collision in D.C.

The aircraft reportedly went down near Roosevelt Mall around 6:30 p.m. Friday evening, igniting several cars and homes. The plane, carrying two passengers, had just departed from Northeast Philadelphia Airport before the disaster struck.
A video captured the moment the aircraft crashed in the distance, engulfing the area in flames. “It was so loud, and then everything lit up,” a witness shared.
Fire crews are actively battling multiple house fires near the 2900 block of Cottman Avenue, where the wreckage landed. The conditions of those onboard remain unknown, though several outlets have reported multiple fatalities.
The incident follows a deadly midair collision involving an American Airlines passenger jet and an Army Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan National Airport Wednesday night, which claimed the lives of 67 people.
Emergency responders continue to assess the scene, and authorities urge residents to avoid the area.
