Snapchat is making a fresh play for the creator economy, rolling out a new subscription feature designed to turn loyal followers into paying supporters.
Beginning February 23, the company will test Creator Subscriptions in alpha with a small group of U.S. creators, including Jeremiah Brown, Harry Jowsey, and Skai Jackson. The feature lets fans pay a monthly fee to unlock premium access directly inside the app.
Creators will control their own pricing, while Snap suggests tier options to guide them. Once subscribed, fans get access to exclusive posts, priority responses on public Stories, and an ad-free experience when watching that creator’s Stories.
The company positioned the launch as a natural next step in its broader monetization strategy.
“Expanding on existing monetization offerings like the Unified Monetization Program and the Snap Star Collab Studio, Creator Subscriptions introduce a premium layer of connection directly into how Snapchatters already engage with creators across Stories, Chat, and replies,” the company said in a blog post.
The rollout comes as Snapchat reports 946 million monthly active users in its fourth-quarter 2025 earnings. During the same earnings update, the company said U.S.-based users posting to Spotlight jumped more than 47% year over year.
Snap also recently separated its hardware division into a standalone company called Specs, signaling a sharper focus on its core platform.
Creator Subscriptions will expand to Snap Stars in Canada, the United Kingdom, and France in the coming weeks.
Meta already offers subscription features across Instagram and Facebook, so Snap’s latest move adds another layer of competition as platforms race to help creators turn influence into income.
