Snoop Dogg is speaking out about the backlash he received earlier this year for DJing at the Crypto Ball during Donald Trump’s inauguration weekend, and he’s not here to explain himself.
During his appearance on The Breakfast Club, the rap icon addressed the controversy surrounding his 30-minute performance at the elite event, making it clear that his long-standing legacy speaks louder than a single gig.

“I DJed at the Crypto Ball for what, 30 minutes… made a whole bunch of money, made a lot of relationships to help the inner city and teach financial literacy,” Snoop said. “That’s 30 minutes. I’ve been doing great things for the community for 30 years. So which one is it? 30 for 30?”
Emphasizing that his participation wasn’t political, Snoop stated, “I don’t represent the Republican Party. I don’t represent the Democratic Party. I represent the gangster party. Period.”
Snoop also revealed how some fans turned on him online, but quickly backpedaled when he called them out. “I would jump right in their DMs with a video like, ‘You b**** a**, what you wanna do?’ And they’d be like, ‘Oh man, I’m just a fan,’” he said. “Don’t come for me if you don’t know me.”
He clarified that the performance had nothing to do with Trump and was instead booked through longtime business partner David Sacks. “It was a crypto play meant to bring resources back to the hood,” he said. “That was the mission.”
And for those still questioning his motives, Snoop had one final message: “My work should speak for me. Don’t take my business decisions and try to involve them in who I am as a person. Look at what I’ve done in real life—that should matter more.”
Earlier this year, Snoop received vocal support from figures like Stephen A. Smith, Charlamagne Tha God, Rick Ross, Soulja Boy, and Nelly, who all defended the right of artists to perform without being dragged into political firestorms. Charlamagne, in particular, challenged the double standards, pointing out that elected officials have shared stages and laughs with Trump, yet the outrage seemed reserved for performers.
