Lauryn Hill surprised guests by performing at Tuesday’s SoHo House 20th Anniversary celebration, even though the singer was rumored to have another gig.
Page Six reports that the Fugees rapper seemingly backed out of another performance to perform at the SoHo House instead. However, Hill’s team disputes that fact. They told the outlet that the promoters for the other event jumped the gun by announcing the show.
According to Hill’s reps, the event was announced before “production and other details were finalized or having a signed deal in place.”
“So, Ms. Hill was never confirmed to be a part of the event,” the rep said. “Her agents were in talks with the organizers, but nothing came to fruition.”
Instead, the SoHo House performance came together at the last minute, and Hill performed for delighted attendees. She performed hits like “Killing Me Softly” and “Doo Wop (That Thing)” for the crowd.
