While it’s been four years since the world was shut down amid the spread of the devastating COVID-19 virus, the memories of those uncertain times remain. As many were forced indoors, often away from friends and family, social media and the musicians we all love helped bring us together. Club Quarantine was birthed by DJ D Nice, who attracted millions of viewers on his Instagram live streams, including former First Lady Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey, who popped in to show their support and appreciation for the setlist. It didn’t take long for others to follow suit. Cash Money producer Mannie Fresh also designated a weekday to spin a unique NOLA set for his many fans.
Other musicians worldwide took to social media platforms and virtual event platforms to connect with their fans through live performances from their homes or studios. Though nothing quite compares to hearing the roaring of a crowd inside a packed stadium, these at-home shows offered a much-needed sense of normalcy and entertainment during a time of uncertainty and isolation, which is something music lovers can never forget.
