Since the pandemic, the federal government has sent out three stimulus checks so far. For some families, an additional $300 per child a month was provided to help further assist. On the other hand, the delta variant continues to affect families, their spending, and the economy. As the virus spreads, many families will continue to be financially strained due to the expiration of increased unemployment benefits.
However, individuals may be eligible for an additional $1,400 in stimulus money if they had a child sometime this year, even though the money won’t arrive in their bank accounts until 2022.
Citizens should not get their hopes up just yet, as Congress does not intend to approve a fourth government stimulus payment this year.
Meanwhile, numerous state governments have created their own programs to provide further financial assistance to residents. Educators in Florida, Michigan, and Tennessee earned incentives, and some frontline workers in Vermont received cash. In addition, millions of Californians just received a second wave of Golden State Stimulus checks for $600 (or up to $1,100), while low-income Marylanders are eligible for direct payments worth $300 or $500.
One petition requests that all families receive financial assistance in the form of recurring $2,000 checks. It currently has over 2.9 million signatures. However, the money does not appear to be forthcoming because Congress is negotiating a $3.5 trillion federal budget deal that could assist in other ways.
