A tragic incident at Southern University has left the campus mourning after 20-year-old student Caleb Wilson collapsed and later died, allegedly during an off-campus fraternity ritual.
Wilson, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering from New Orleans, was reportedly participating in an Omega Psi Phi fraternity event where pledges stand in a line when he suddenly collapsed. His friends rushed him to a Baton Rouge hospital early Thursday morning, but he was unresponsive upon arrival. Medical staff pronounced him dead and notified authorities at 3:15 a.m., prompting a police investigation.
The university released a statement acknowledging Wilson’s passing and expressing condolences to his family, classmates, and loved ones. Officials confirmed they are fully cooperating with the Baton Rouge Police Department as the investigation continues.
An autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
