Veteran sports reporter and host Michelle Beadle stunned viewers with an unexpected slip of the tongue Friday on her “Run It Back” show on FanDuel TV.
Alongside NBA analysts Lou Williams, a Black man, and Chandler Parsons, Beadle was introducing a segment about the Denver Nuggets when she appeared to mistakenly refer to the team using the n-word.
“Michael Porter Jr. recently said…that if the [n-word], the Nuggets don’t win this,” Beadle began, immediately realizing her slip-up and glancing at her co-hosts. “Don’t try to get me on that,” she added, trying to pivot back to the segment.
The shock was noticeable in the studio. Williams, visibly stunned, buried his head on the desk.
“I’m buying. Beadle gonna be in trouble today,” he stated.
Beadle, seeming almost as shocked as the others, quickly protested, “That’s not fair! That’s not even a thing; it’s not even a word.”
Williams tried to reassure her, stating, “You coming in the club, I got you. Ain’t nobody gonna say nothing.”
While Beadle clearly regretted the mistake and tried to brush it off, Williams and Parsons took a moment to recover from their visible shock, showing some grace by attempting to move forward. This kind of slip-up, though accidental, has previously led to serious consequences, as seen with Oakland A’s announcer Glen Kuiper, who lost his job over a similar blunder. Social media has called out Beadle for the slip-up, though it’s unclear if she has been professionally disciplined.
