The TikTok-inspired vertical video feed has been making its way across many of the apps we utilize every day, and it’s now set to make an official appearance on Spotify.

Following the beta test announcement last year, Spotify is gearing up to launch a new design for the Home section of its mobile app for a “more visual and dynamic” appearance. According to the company, the visual feeds are designed to enable enhanced exploration and establish significant links between artists and their supporters.

The music, podcasts, and audiobook sections will provide users with the option to browse through the content, enabling Spotify to give users a preview of audio and video snippets. The Search interface will also include these visual feeds, where users can explore clips sorted by genre. Furthermore, Spotify says it will include visual content within its curated playlists such as Discover Weekly, Release Radar, New Music Friday, and Rap Caviar. The musical streaming app sees this as a means of providing song previews from those collections before users begin playing them.

Spotify has also decided to rename its Enhance tool, which was introduced in 2021, to Smart Shuffle. In addition to incorporating suggestions that align with the playlist’s mood, this feature now rearranges the order of the tracks. To enable this feature, users will need to double-tap on the shuffle icon. Once activated, there will be a shuffle icon with a star on the top left corner, and all suggested tracks will be highlighted in the list. If users wish to eliminate all of the app’s recommendations, they’ll be required to tap the Smart Shuffle button once again, which will restore the playlist to its initial composition.

Nevertheless, Spotify says certain features will be accessible immediately, while others will make their debut later this year.
