Remember the two personal injury lawyers who pointed their guns at protestors in St. Louis earlier this year? Yes, well, Mark and Patricia McCloskey have been indicted.

St. Louis Couple

St. Louis Circuit Clerk Thomas Kloeppinger told reporters that the grand jury brought felony gun and evidence tampering charges against the couple but said the indictments are sealed, and he does not know why. According to KMOV, the evidence tampering charges are directed at Patricia McCloskey for claiming that the gun she was holding was unusable. However, the weapon was later ordered by prosecutors to be reassembled.

On June 28, the McCloskeys were caught on video and photographed waving their weapons and yelling at protesters who marched through the neighborhood to get to Mayor Lyda Krewson’s home.  In July,  St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner charged the couple with a felony, unlawful use of a weapon.

Following the indictment on Tuesday, Mark criticized the decision in comments to reporters, saying, “The government chooses to persecute us for doing no more than exercising our right to defend ourselves, our home, our property and our family, and now we’re getting drug here time after time after time, and for what?” He added, “We didn’t fire a shot. People were violently protesting in front of our house and screaming death threats and threats of rape and threats of arson. Nobody gets charged, but we get charged.”

Since the incident, the McCloskeys have become quite popular with the conservative movement.

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said that Donald Trump thinks its “absolutely absurd what is happening to the McCloskeys.” She said he claimed it was “an extreme abuse of power” by Circuit Attorney Gardner.

The couple made an appearance in August at the Republican National Convention, where they claimed the democrats wanted to “abolish the suburbs.”

Mark McCloskey said, “The radicals are not content just marching in the streets during the RNC appearance. They want to walk the halls of Congress.” He added, “They want to take over. They want power. This is Joe Biden’s party. These are the people who will be in charge of your future and the future of your children.”
