Stacey Dash isn’t here for Miss Tina and barely she’s barely here for Kelly Rowland. She made that clear in her latest blog post, addressing Kelly Rowland’s Halloween costume.
You see, for Halloween (and cousin Angie’s 90’s party) Kelly dressed up as Dionne, the breakout character from Clueless that launched Stacey Dash’s career in 1995. Tina Lawson, Beyonce’s mother, posted a photo of her and Kelly on Instagram. Allegedly she posted the photo with the caption, “This is my baby as Dione last night of course she is prettier and more smart than the one from the movie but I was confused cause she kept saying something about her pager.”
Apparently some of the commenters may have taken that the wrong way, so Tina edited her post to ensure that there was no shade intended and that she was implying Kelly was smarter and prettier than Dionne, the fictional character, not Stacey who played her. “This is my baby as Dione last night but I was confused cause she kept saying something about her pager. lord no shade intended!!!! It was a character in a movie!!!!” the edited post read.
Stacey didn’t see it that way and took to her personal blog to return the shade. First she reposted a quote from Oxygen.com which read, “If one thing runs in Queen Bey’s bloodline, it’s the ability to throw subtle shade and Tina demonstrated her acumen for the art of insult this Halloween, somehow managing to turn a cute costume into a caustic diss.”
Then she fired back with some shade of her own. “First of all, if you’re trying to throw shade about someone’s intelligence, maybe use “smarter” instead of “more smart,”” said Dash. “Here’s the thing — Kelly Rowland is a beautiful girl and I love the costume! Imitation is the best form of flattery.”
In my opinion, Stacey should relax. She hasn’t been Dionne in 21 years. To say “imitation is the best form of flattery,” is a stretch. Kelly dressed up as Dionne, not as Stacey Dash. Tina made a flub and quickly corrected herself. It doesn’t mean she intended shade towards Stacey, who she probably doesn’t even know. Everyone knew that the Valley Girls of Clueless were a bit ditsy. To say Kelly is smarter is not a jab at Stacey Dash’s intelligence, it’s referring to the character she played over 20 years ago.
I would say only Dame Dash could fix this but we know that won’t be happening any time soon.
So, what are your thoughts? Was Miss Tina throwing shade or did Stacey take it out of context?
