Stephen A. Smith is not here for Nicki Minaj’s latest outburst, and he made it clear on his podcast.
Smith took aim at Nicki after her rant on X about JAY-Z and Roc Nation, where she expressed frustration that Lil Wayne wasn’t chosen to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Instead, Roc Nation tapped Kendrick Lamar. Nicki, among others, wasn’t happy about it.
During Wednesday’s episode of his podcast, he addressed Nicki directly, saying while he respects her success, she crossed a line by publicly disrespecting JAY-Z.
“Every time we turn around it’s something, Nicki,” Smith said. “You disagree with the decision… but you have to talk to a brother like that?”
He then questioned if Nicki realizes just how hard it is for someone like JAY-Z to achieve what he has.
“Do you know how hard it is,” he asked, “for a Black man to pull off what JAY-Z has pulled off?”
He even suggested that Nicki might be using the controversy to stir up attention for herself. “It ain’t about you as an individual, it’s about us,” Smith stressed. “All of us, as Black people.”
