Subway is adding a new twist to its value menu: footlong nachos made with Doritos.
The sandwich chain announced that it has partnered with Doritos to launch the new item as part of its Sidekicks menu, a lineup aimed at attracting younger, budget-conscious customers. The $5 nachos are made with nacho cheese-flavored Doritos, topped with cheddar cheese, jalapeños, diced tomatoes, red onions, and a chipotle sauce drizzle.
Customers can choose to add rotisserie-style chicken or steak at no additional cost, or include avocado for an upcharge. Subway says the dish is “freshly prepared” and uses ingredients already found in stores, such as bagged chips and sandwich toppings — making it a cost-effective menu addition for the brand.
The Doritos nachos are the latest addition to Subway’s growing Sidekicks lineup, which launched last year. Other items include a footlong chocolate chip cookie, a 12-inch slab of chocolate cookie dough topped with Oreo crumbles and vanilla cream, a Cinnabon churro, and a soft pretzel from Auntie Anne’s. Subway also offers “Dippers”, warm flatbread snacks rolled with pepperoni and cheese, chicken and cheese, or double cheese.
According to Douglas Fry, Subway’s North America president, the menu was designed to meet the demand from younger customers who want “convenient, hand-held, grab-and-go” food options at affordable prices.
The fast-food industry has seen a sharp rise in value-based promotions as chains look to retain customers frustrated with high prices. Brands like McDonald’s, Chili’s, and Taco Bell have recently found success by leaning into value meals rather than limited-time offerings.
Subway, which brought back its $5 Footlong promotion in February, appears to be following suit. Although privately held and rarely releasing sales figures, the brand has been working to modernize its image with freshly sliced meats, increased customization, and expanded mobile ordering.
The Doritos nachos are now available at participating locations nationwide.
