A day after Philadelphia police sought the public’s help in identifying a man wanted in connection with an assault at a Dollar Tree, the suspect has turned himself in.
Gary A. Miles, the 35-year-old suspect, turned himself in following an indecent assault incident involving a female victim at a Dollar Tree store in South Philadelphia. According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at the Dollar Tree located at 56 E. Snyder Ave.
Police had identified Miles as the suspect, noting that he is a resident of Southwest Philly and is known to frequent the Snyder Plaza area and the nearby I-95 underpass, where he may park a vehicle.
The case gained significant attention on Wednesday when a video appearing to show the end of the assault went viral. In the disturbing clip, a woman was seen chasing a man out of the Dollar Tree store after he reportedly ejaculated on her.
The video also caught the eye of Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill, who took to Twitter (now known as X) to offer $2,000 for information leading to the suspect.
Following this heightened public interest, Philadelphia police announced that Miles voluntarily surrendered to authorities on Wednesday evening.
“The PPD extends its gratitude to the public for their assistance in locating Mr. Miles,” read a statement from the police.
