Ahead of the release of his highly anticipated book, “Crushing: God Turns Pressure Into Power,” Bishop T.D. Jakes opened up about what encouraged him to pen God’s “process for growth.”
In an interview with Baller Alert, the pastor, filmmaker and No. 1 New York Times Best-Selling author explained the meaning behind the title, the reason for his words and how his book aims to teach readers “how you can benefit from life’s challenging experiences.”
“I see so many people today, who are stuck in a state of crushing and they can’t get out and when they do try to get out, they revert back to self-sabotage,” Jakes said. “I really wrote the book because I’m really concerned about our emotional help cause it affects your physical health.”
As he continued, Jakes offered a few words of encouragement for those who are going through a tough time.
“Giving yourself permission to be happy is important,” Jakes continued. “Giving yourself permission to evolve, even when things get better – sometimes when you’re used to worse – better feels funny. Allow yourself to be awkward in a better place until you readjust and that becomes a new normal for you.”
Elsewhere, Jakes opened up about life’s pressures and how most can be avoided with human contact and fellowship. “When you feel alienated and everything is going real fast, you can become self-destructive.”
