T.I. is getting real about the comedy business and how it differs from his illustrious hip-hop career.

The rapper-turned-comedian opened up with Yung Joc’s Streetz Morning Takeover about the realities of transitioning from rap to stand-up performing.

“Ain’t no paper,” T.I. said, acknowledging the challenges of the comedy world. While he recognized the success of heavyweights such as Kevin Hart, Dave Chappelle, and Katt Williams, T.I. was quick to point out that the path to success in comedy is a different journey, one that doesn’t always guarantee the same rewards.

“It ain’t a slope. It’s a dip,” he joked.

Despite these challenges, the 44-year-old is not discouraged. He revealed that the joy he gets from performing jokes makes the effort worthwhile.

“I ain’t even tripping because it’s so much fun and I enjoy myself,” he explained. “That’s the thing…when we had all the money in the world and the energy just wasn’t right you know what I’m saying? So, you know, I just value, I value my peace of mind.”

While T.I. may be ready to leave the studio for good, his place in hip-hop is solidified. In his over 20-year career, the superstar has won three Grammy Awards and sold millions of records worldwide. Additionally, he has dominated reality television and film, starring in movies such as “Takers,” and “ATL.” He has worked with just about every notable name in rap, including Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and countless others.
