T.I. and his wife Tiny are celebrating a major legal victory after a California sexual assault case against them was officially thrown out. The couple’s representative shared with AllHipHop on Friday, August 9, that the lawsuit, filed earlier this year by an unidentified woman, has been dismissed.
“The court agreed with Tip and Tameka that Jane Doe doesn’t have any valid claims,” the rep stated. “As Tip and Tameka said three years ago, these allegations are just part of a series of false and sensational claims made to extort money from them.”
Last month, T.I. (whose real name is Clifford Harris) and Tiny requested that the case be dismissed. The lawsuit, originally filed in January by a woman identified as Jane Doe, included accusations of sexual battery, assault, negligence, and false imprisonment related to a 2005 incident. At the time, the couple claimed the plaintiff had been threatening to file the lawsuit for three years.
In their motion to dismiss, the couple’s attorney argued that the claims were time-barred, as the statute of limitations had expired over 16 years ago. “Further, even though Mr. and Mrs. Harris deny that any of the alleged actions took place, the complaint fails to provide enough facts to support any of the claims,” the attorney explained.
As a result, the judge dismissed the case entirely, and Jane Doe is now unable to refile her complaint.
According to the lawsuit, T.I. and Tiny allegedly encountered the plaintiff, who was serving in the Air Force at the time, at a Los Angeles nightclub. The woman claimed that Tiny may have tampered with her drink, leading to her and two other women ending up in a hotel room with the couple. She alleged that T.I. performed inappropriate acts despite her objections, which left her in pain and disoriented. However, with the case dismissed, the couple can now put this chapter behind them.
