Taco Bell is rolling out its Mexican Pizza with a musical celebrating its return.
The fan favorite will return permanently to menus on September 15th after being halted several months ago. Due to unexpected demand, Taco Bell was forced to pull the meal. However, public outrage led the company to realize it had to be reinstated, and the musical will highlight the efforts it took to bring back the untraditional pizza.
“Mexican Pizza: The Musical” is a satirical production about the people who fought to bring the delicious food back to Taco Bell menus everywhere. Taco Bell took to Instagram to share a photo of award-winning composers Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear wearing gowns and taking a bite out of the Mexican Pizza. The women are not only starring in the quirky musical but provided the music and lyrics for the film.
This year, Taco Bell has been stepping it up with the content, creating short films and other interactive experiences for fans to enjoy outside of their fantastic food. Last week, they announced the #TacoBellMetaverseWeddingContest, which allows one lucky couple to get married in a Taco Bell-themed metaverse wedding. They’ve also launched a music initiative, Feed the Beat, aimed at helping independent artists.
The musical will debut exclusively on TikTok LIVE at 8 p.m. on the same day that the Mexican Pizza is scheduled to return to the restaurant chain.
