Tasha K is officially asking her fans to help dig her out of a multi-million dollar hole.
The gossip personality, whose real name is Latasha Kebe, launched a GoFundMe campaign this week aimed at paying off a staggering $3.5 million judgment she owes to rap superstar Cardi B. Despite her massive online following, the fundraiser is off to a rocky start, having raised only $1,750 at the time of writing.
The legal saga began in 2022 when a federal jury found Tasha K liable for defamation, invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress following a “malicious campaign” of false claims against Cardi B. After losing her appeals and filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Tasha is now under a court-ordered plan to settle the debt.
In a personal message shared with her “Winos,” Tasha explained her change of heart regarding the fundraiser. “For years many of you have asked me to start a fundraiser to help me pay off the judgment against me. I always refused because I believed it was my responsibility to handle it on my own. But after many conversations with you all, I’m finally listening,” she wrote.
Tasha revealed that she is currently paying $20,000 per month toward the judgment from her own pocket, a commitment she says will continue regardless of the GoFundMe’s success. She described the ongoing legal pressure as a “system that never seems to end,” noting that creditors can still bring her back to court for examinations and filings even while she makes her payments.
“I don’t have $3.5 million sitting in cash, but with the help of my community we can accelerate paying this off so I can finally move forward and focus on creating, reporting, and entertaining without constant interruption,” she added. To further incentivize her supporters, she announced an upcoming Kickstarter campaign featuring exclusive merchandise.
As she approaches her birthday this Tuesday, Tasha is framing the fundraiser as her primary wish for the year. To address potential concerns about where the money is going, she promised “full transparency,” stating that the books will be shared quarterly so contributors can see every dollar being applied directly to the debt.
While Tasha is looking to “close this chapter,” Cardi B’s legal team has remained aggressive. Earlier this week, attorneys for the “Am I The Drama?” rapper filed motions in Florida’s bankruptcy court seeking to examine Tasha’s personal bank records and business earnings to ensure no assets are being hidden.
