A teen with a self-inflicted stab wound was reported at the Houston home of Texas GOP Senator Ted Cruz on Tuesday night.
According to TMZ, police responded to reports of a 14-year-old with self-inflicted stab wounds just before 8 p.m. in River Oaks, where Cruz and his family live.
The unidentified teen was taken to the hospital, but authorities could not confirm whether Cruz’s family called 911.
Late Tuesday, Cruz’s office said that the unidentified girl was his daughter, but she was okay, and the family was asking for privacy.
“This is a family matter, and thankfully their daughter is okay,” Cruz’s representatives said in a statement. “There were no serious injuries. The family requests the media respect their daughter’s privacy at this time.”
