A teenager suffers from severe head trauma after attempting to subway surf in New York City.
On Thursday evening, police responded to a call at 111th Street station at Roosevelt Avenue in Queens. Upon arrival, authorities found a 15-year-old unconscious on top of a seven-train heading southbound.
NYPD believes the teenager was attempting to subway surf. They claim the boy had been riding on top of the train as it entered the station and struck his head on “an unknown object.”
The 15-year-old was transported to Elmhurst Hospital with severe head trauma. Police say as of Friday, the teen remains in critical condition.
The NYPD is currently still investigating the incident.
This isn’t the first time someone has tried to subway surf in real life. Earlier this month, a video showed eight people subway surfing and dancing on top of a train. In 2021, a 32-year-old man died after falling onto the tracks while subway surfing.
