The US Records Its Highest One-Day COVID-19 Death Tolls

On Wednesday, more than 3,150 COVID-19 deaths were reported in the United States. According to the COVID Tracking Project, there are 100,226 patients in US hospitals.

On Thursday, a tally was corrected after an error was found in one state’s tally for Wednesday’s records, according to CNN Health. As COVID cases and hospitalizations rise, health officials warn that the upcoming winter months will be crucial. Dr. Robert Redfield, CDC Director, told CNN that the winter months would be the most difficult time in the US’s public health history.

In a letter, the American Ambulance Association said that the 911 emergency call system is at a breaking point. According to John Hopkins University data, the average number of new daily coronavirus cases in the US across a week is 164,103.

Cases and hospitalizations are expected to rise once infections from Thanksgiving gatherings start to come in, according to health officials.
