“Tiger King” star Joe Exotic and his husband Dillion Passage are heading towards divorce after nearly four years together.
Francisco Hernandez, the attorney representing Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Allen Schreibvogel, revealed that the tiger lover learned while in prison that Passage was planning on parting ways with him. TMZ says Exotic is distraught but will try and beat him to divorce by filing first.
The lovers, whose romance was documented in the explosive Netflix hit “Tiger King,” were married on December 11th, 2017, just two months after Exotic’s previous husband, Travis Maldonado, committed suicide. The two were married for nine months when Exotic was arrested for a murder-for-hire plot against his rival, Carol Baskin. He received a 22-year sentence.
Passage said that the release and massive success of “Tiger King” had placed him uncomfortably into the spotlight. He confirmed that their relationship was coming to an end but made it clear that he would not be disclosing additional details about the separation to social media.
“To answer the main question the public wants to know, yes, Joe and I are seeking a divorce,” Passage wrote. He went on add, “Joe and I both understand that this situation isn’t fair to either of us. It’s something that neither of us were expecting but we are going to take it day by day. We are on good terms still and I hope it can stay that way.”
