Tiger Woods was arrested Friday afternoon after a rollover crash on Jupiter Island, according to local authorities.
Officials in Martin County say the crash happened just after 2 p.m. near 281 Beach Road, which is close to Woods’ home. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Woods was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI following the incident.
Video from the scene showed a Range Rover flipped onto its side, highlighting the seriousness of the crash. However, Sheriff John Budensiek said during a Friday evening news conference that it “did not appear that Woods was hurt.”
Authorities said Woods complied with a breathalyzer test but refused to submit to a urine test. He now faces misdemeanor charges and will be held in the Martin County Jail for at least eight hours.
This is not Woods’ first run-in with a DUI-related case. In 2017, he was arrested in Palm Beach County on suspicion of driving under the influence. He later pleaded guilty to reckless driving, paid a $250 fine, and completed DUI school.
The latest incident also brings renewed attention to Woods’ past crash in California in 2021, where he suffered multiple leg injuries. Officials say the investigation into Friday’s crash is still ongoing.
