Right in the middle of a chaotic roadside scene, Tiger Woods casually dropped a line that raised more questions than answers.

Newly surfaced body camera footage from a March 27 crash in Florida shows Woods on the phone just moments after his vehicle flipped near his Jupiter Island home. As he walks back toward deputies, he ends the call with a polite, “Thank you so much. All right. You got it. Bye. Thank you,” before adding, “Yeah, I was just talking to the president.”
The footage does not confirm who was on the other end. However, the comment immediately pointed attention toward Donald Trump, a longtime golf partner of Woods. The White House has not commented on the claim.
Authorities arrested Woods, 50, and charged him with DUI after the crash, which occurred when his Land Rover clipped a pickup truck and overturned. No injuries were reported. According to deputies, Woods admitted he had been looking at his phone and adjusting the radio.
“I do believe your normal faculties are impaired, and you’re under an unknown substance, so at this time you’re under arrest for DUI,” a deputy told him on scene.
Officers later found hydrocodone in his possession. Woods has pleaded not guilty.
Days later, Woods announced he would step away from golf to seek treatment, saying, “This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.”
Trump, speaking to Reuters, called the decision “a good thing,” adding, “He’s one of the greatest people I’ve known… he’ll be fine.”
