Tiny Desk producer Bobby Carter took to social media to respond to growing concerns from fans and supporters.

“I’ve heard from many friends, family, and audience members who are worried that NPR/Tiny Desk is shutting down. It is not,” Carter wrote.

He confirmed the show remains unaffected and encouraged supporters to continue donating to public media.

“I appreciate all the calls, texts, and messages. They have been overwhelming and heartwarming. Thank y’all,” he added.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has been a major source of federal funding for more than 1,500 PBS and NPR stations nationwide since it was founded in 1967.

Last week, the organization announced it would begin winding down its operations after the Senate Appropriations Committee voted on July 31st to cut $1.1 billion in funding.

The decision came months after Donald Trump signed an executive order on May 1st criticizing NPR and PBS for political bias.

In his statement, he argued that “No media outlet has a constitutional right to taxpayer subsidies” and claimed the CPB failed to meet its legal requirement for impartiality.

While the shutdown marks a significant change in how public media will be supported, NPR and Tiny Desk will continue operating independently.

The concert series will continue to rely on donations, sponsorships, and loyal listeners who help sustain its work.
