The GOAT, Tom Brady, officially became an NFL owner on Tuesday after the league’s group of owners approved the seven-time Super Bowl champion at the NFL fall meetings. While this is a huge milestone for Brady, there are some limitations, especially when it comes to his broadcasting career. However, Raiders owner Mark Davis has already hinted at a bigger role for Brady, hoping he can help the team find its quarterback of the future.
Davis joked that while Brady can’t suit up as quarterback, he can certainly assist in selecting the next one. Currently, the Raiders’ quarterback room includes Aidan O’Connell, Gardner Minshew, and Carter Bradley, none of whom are seen as long-term franchise options. The team’s future QB likely isn’t on the roster yet, and the pressure is on to get this crucial decision right.
With Davante Adams traded to the New York Jets, the Raiders are officially in rebuild mode, and Davis wants Brady involved in shaping the team’s future. Brady’s investment group includes Knighthead Capital co-founder Tom Wagner and his former teammate, NFL legend Richard Seymour.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also weighed in on Brady’s ownership stake, saying, “It’s great that Tom Brady wants to invest in the NFL. He cares deeply about this game, believes in its future, and I think that’s a signal of that. Commentating was a gradual way for him to stay involved, but by obtaining ownership, he’s immersing himself in the world of football again.”
Brady is back in the NFL, this time as an owner, showing once again that his passion for the game runs deep.
It will be interesting how the next few years in Las Vegas change within the landscape as Brady joins the helm. Check out Brady’s statement. He posted it on X, formerly known as Twitter.
