Travis Hunter Sr., the father of Jacksonville Jaguars rookie and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter Jr., is back in custody in Florida after allegedly violating the terms of his probation. Online records confirm Hunter Sr. was arrested following a series of missteps involving his court-mandated ankle monitor.
Authorities say Hunter Sr. became untrackable for 11 minutes on the night of June 28th because he was “too far away from his monitoring device to be accurately tracked.” He told officials he had simply moved to another room. By July 1st, the situation escalated when he reported the device was missing entirely. A warrant for his arrest was issued July 10th.
Hunter Sr. had been serving a three-year probation sentence tied to a 2023 gun and drug case. After completing a 90-day jail stint, he was placed on home confinement for a year. In a rare exception, a Florida judge granted him permission to attend the 2025 NFL Draft, where his son was selected No. 2 overall by Jacksonville. He was only allowed to travel between the draft venue and his hotel, under a strict itinerary submitted to his community control officer.
During his emotional Heisman speech, Travis Jr. addressed his dad directly. “Dad, I love you. For all the stuff you went through, man… Now, look at your oldest son. I did it for you,” he said. “I know you wanted to be here… but trust me, I got you. I’m bringing the trophy home.”
