Trump is once again stirring controversy, this time linking President Joe Biden’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies to a tragic midair collision—without offering any proof.
Trump made the claim on Thursday while speaking at the White House, suggesting that Biden-era diversity initiatives “could have been” responsible for Wednesday night’s fatal crash. The accident, which involved an American Airlines regional jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter over Washington, D.C., is now being investigated as the deadliest aviation incident in the U.S. since November 2001.
However, Trump did not provide any evidence connecting DEI policies to the collision, nor have investigators suggested that diversity hiring practices played any role in the tragedy.
The crash is under federal investigation, and officials have yet to determine the cause. But that hasn’t stopped Trump from making DEI the scapegoat.
