Donald Trump is leaving Mike Pence behind, revealing that the former Vice President will not be his running mate in the 2024 election race.
While the former President has not yet officially announced his White House bid in 2024, he confirmed Tuesday that his former buddy would not be by his side when and if he does. The toupee-rocking leader added that while he still cares for Pence, their relationship became rocky after Pence refused to participate in Trump’s efforts to challenge the 2020 presidential elections results.
“I don’t think the people would accept it,” Trump said in an interview with the Washington Examiner.
In a February 4th speech, Pence slammed Trump for his continued attack on Biden and unsubstantiated assertions that voter fraud was the reason he won the presidency.
“President Trump is wrong,” he said during his address. “I had no right to overturn the election.”
Many expected Pence to distance himself from Trump, especially given his silence for much of Trump’s presidency, which signaled a difference of opinion during their time together. The two men have not spoken in a while, according to Trump.
While neither Trump nor Pence has announced a presidential campaign, both have hinted at the possibility recently.
