The Trump name is now making eyebrow-raising moves in the mobile phone industry with the launch of a new wireless service, Trump Mobile.
The Trump Organization is licensing the brand for the venture, which will compete with giants like AT&T, Verizon, Apple, and Samsung. Donald Trump Jr. introduced the service at Trump Tower on Monday, saying, “A big part of what we’ve done … has been focused on technology for people who have been underserved, whether that’s been in crypto or anything else, but one of the places where we felt there was lackluster performance was in the mobile industry.”
The initiative includes a new gold-colored smartphone, the “T1,” available for pre-order at $499. A wireless plan priced at $47.45 per month — symbolizing Donald Trump’s status as both the 45th and 47th president — is also being promoted.
Eric Trump, speaking to Fox Business, emphasized that customer support would be provided domestically. Trump Jr. added, “With Trump Mobile, we’re going to be introducing an entire package of products,” noting future services like telemedicine, roadside assistance, and unlimited texting.
Many are now questioning how a sitting president could be involved with a mobile company of this magnitude, with citizens slamming it as being illegal.
