Donald Trump wasted no time reacting to the upcoming cancellation of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” celebrating the news on Truth Social with some pointed remarks.
“I absolutely love that Colbert got fired,” Trump wrote. “His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert! Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”
CBS announced on July 17th that “The Late Show” will conclude in May 2026 after a decade on the air, citing financial reasons. The network emphasized its admiration for Colbert, stating, “We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable… He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late-night television.”
Jimmy Kimmel came to Colbert’s defense with a sharp Instagram Story: “Love you Stephen. F**k you and all your Sheldons [on] CBS.”
Colbert, a frequent critic of Trump, recently took aim at CBS parent company Paramount over a $16 million settlement involving Trump and allegations of misleading edits in a CBS News interview with Kamala Harris.
