'Sherri,' 'The Talk,' 'Jennifer Hudson Show' and 'Drew' Set to Return For New Seasons Amid Writers' Strike

Several daytime talk shows are set to return despite the ongoing WGA/SAG strikes.

CBS‘ “The Talk,” along with syndicated shows “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” “Sherri,” and “Drew”, are gearing up for new seasons.

Drew Barrymore is facing backlash from the show’s striking writers after being the first to announce her daytime show return.

“I am … making the choice to come back for the first time in this strike for our show, that may have my name on it but this is bigger than just me,” she wrote on Instagram. “I own this choice. We are in compliance with not discussing or promoting film and television that is struck of any kind.”

“The Talk” plans to resume taping for a September 18 premiere, while Jennifer Hudson’s show is promoting its second season starting on the same date.

Both shows have a history of employing WGA writers and are associated with the union’s minimum basic agreement.

Sherri’s second season, will continue to run as normal since it operates without WGA writers, much like Live With Kelly and Ryan and Tamron Hall.

According to NBCUniversal, The Kelly Clarkson Show hasn’t been confirmed for the 2023-2024 season since it’s moving from Los Angeles to New York.
