Two murals, located in Chicago, of Kanye West have been defaced following his anti-semitic remarks.
On Wednesday, a video circulated on social media of someone using black paint to cover up the depiction. The mural was located on the side of a building in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood.
Jason M. Peterson, the artist responsible for the 14-foot mural, posted an image of the blacked-out painting to his Instagram Story, saying “We need better role models.”
Peterson spoke with Block Club Chicago and shared that the mural was removed at a request from the building’s owner, who happens to be Jewish.
In addition, another mural of Kanye was also defaced. Just last month, Hyde Park artist Chris Devins unveiled the mural inspired by “old Kanye.” On Thursday, the mural was partially defaced with the word “trash” written across Kanye’s body.

“I stand with my Jewish friends and family members against the irresponsible statements Kanye West has been making in the press lately. I do not condone or tolerate anti-Jewish statements of any kind. My partner is Jewish, as is her family,” Devins said.
He continued, “I do not believe however, that Art should be censored, instead I think the mural should stay up as a reminder of the power of celebrity and the need to wield that power responsibly. As such, I will not be undoing my mural.”
The change to the murals comes as one of the latest jabs at Kanye after his vile anti-Semitic rant.
The ‘Yeezy’ creator has lost a plethora of corporate partnerships this week. Most notably, Adidas ended its collaboration with Yeezy which pushed Kanye out of his billionaire status.
To make the situation worse, a source close to Kanye later revealed he had an “obsession” with Adolf Hitler. The source also disclosed that Kanye even considered naming his 2018 album after the infamous leader.
