Two more suspects have been charged in connection to the murder of rapper Pnb Rock.
New details have emerged regarding the involvement of Tremont Jones and Wynisha Evans in Rock’s death. Both were in court on Monday to face their charges. Police believe Jones told the killers that Rock was inside Roscoe’s Chicken’ N Waffles in South Los Angeles with his girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang, on September 12th, 2022. Jones even fist-bumped Rock upon first encountering him in the restaurant. Shortly after, he allegedly alerted Freddie Trone that the rapper was in the building wearing expensive jewelry. Trone went and picked up his teenage son and returned to the eatery, which is when the theft and ultimate murder took place. Jones is being charged with two counts of robbery, one count of conspiring to rob Rock, and one count of illegal possession of a firearm.
Evans is being accused of being an accessory after the fact. Prosecutors believe she helped Trone flee Los Angeles after the murder. She allegedly drove him to Las Vegas. In the early days of the investigation, Trone’s wife, Shauntel Trone, was also arrested in the weeks following Rock’s death and also charged with accessory after the fact for aiding her husband and stepson in covering up the crime. Police initially believed the killers were tipped off to Rock’s location due to a social media post. However, the investigation quickly realized that it was Jones’ chance encounter with Rock that put the robbery plan in motion. Rock was shot multiple times by Trone’s 17-year-old son, who also fired at the artist when he was on the ground. As he lay dying, the boy stripped the rapper’s rings from his fingers.
Jones, Evans, Trone, his wife, and son have all pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
