Now that Tyrese is single, the judge in his child support case has advised him to view the $10k he’ll be paying as an investment in his child’s future.
After the court battle with his ex-wife, Samantha Lee Gibson ended on Tuesday, Tyrese was ordered to pay $10,690/month in child support. The two have a 3-year-old daughter named Soraya.
In response to Tyrese’s dissatisfaction with the outcome, the judge said, “This is not a punishment for you. Put that money where it belongs in the child!”
The judge also cautioned Samantha and Tyrese against criticizing one another in front of Soraya, and he told Tyrese to be thankful for his ex-wife moving their daughter to a better home to raise her standard of life.
It turns out that Tyrese owes Samantha $209k in a lump sum since Samantha first filed for divorce in Sept. 2020.
A judge, however, granted Tyrese a credit and decreased the lump sum from $209k to $169k, as he had kept paying Samantha’s car payments for two years.
According to TMZ, the judge said neither party would pay spousal support. A decision that Tyrese wanted from the beginning.
