The $1 trillion rescue plan includes sending two large checks to working Americans, $300 billion devoted towards helping small businesses.
Democrat Representative Maxine Waters proposed having the Federal Reserve send $2,000 to every working American adult and $1,000 to every American child until the crisis ends.
However, the Treasury Department said the funds would be paid out in two equal amounts, first on April 6 and then again on May 18. White House officials would make each check $1,000.
Trump told reporters on Wednesday, “People want to go big. Everybody seems to want to go big, and they want to get to the recovery.” However, the package has yet to be approved.
The impact of the coronavirus continues to shake the country.
The national confirmed cases of coronavirus are up to 9,300, with New York having roughly 2,500 confirmed cases. The total death count due to the coronavirus is currently 151.
