Convicted terrorist Ted Kaczynski, known as the Unabomber, cause of death has been revealed.
According to CBSNews, Kaczynski died of an apparent suicide in his jail cell. On Saturday morning, Kazynski was discovered unconscious in his prison cell at the federal medical facility located in Butner, North Carolina. Prior to this, he had been serving a life sentence at the federal supermax prison in Florence, Colorado. However, in December 2021, he was relocated to the North Carolina facility due to his deteriorating health condition.
The U.S. Department of Justice issued a news release on Saturday and said prison officials took immediate life-saving actions upon discovering Kaczynski unconscious. Subsequently, he was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was declared deceased at approximately 8 a.m.
In 1996, Kaczynski was arrested after nearly two decades during which he conducted a campaign of terrorism by mailing homemade bombs. His bombings, spanning from 1978 to 1995, tragically resulted in the deaths of three individuals and caused injuries to 24 others.
Ultimately, he was discovered by the FBI in a secluded cabin in Montana thanks to the cooperation of his brother David Kaczynski and his wife Linda Patrik, who provided crucial information leading to his capture.
Kaczynski entered a guilty plea to various charges, including transportation of an explosive with intent to kill or injure and mailing an explosive device with the intent to kill or injure.
