Director Coodie Simmons filmed hundreds of hours of footage of Kanye West over the last 20 years. With that much footage, there is no way to fit it all into the jeen-yuhs documentary, currently streaming on Netflix.
Now, TIME is sharing one of the clips that did not make it into the three-part series. The video provides some behind-the-scenes footage from the making of West’s 2004 “Slow Jamz” video featuring Twista and Jamie Foxx.
The video, directed by West, Simmons, and Chike Ozah, was shot as Kanye first shot to success as an artist following the release of “Through The Wire.” But as the clip reveals, the shoot for “Slow Jamz” did not go smoothly.
The clip highlights a frustrated Ye, who seems to be battling to have his creative vision understood.
“I’m gonna keep repeating myself over and over and over again. Y’all are forcing me to be the asshole,” a frustrated West says at one point in the video.
Later in the video, West can be heard saying, “I’m spazzing,” over a scene he was trying to shoot. Eventually, filming was cut for the day without completing the video.
Despite the complications, the video was released, and “Slow Jamz” hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The third and final installment of jeen-yuhs will be available for streaming beginning Wednesday.
