Usher is set to receive BET’s Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s BET Awards, and the honor is long overdue.
BET’s highest recognition highlights only the most significant contributions to the music industry. Previous recipients include Whitney Houston, Prince, and Anita Baker. Usher has certainly had a lasting impact on R&B and pop culture as a whole, making him a prime candidate for the accolade. Usher’s run began in the early 90s, with the release of his self-titled debut album in 1994. The project spawned some of his early hits, such as “Can U Get Wit It” and “Think of You.” The singer took off from there, winning eight Grammys throughout his career and racking up countless hits tracks, several of which he’s sure to deliver during his Lifetime Achievement performance.
With such an illustrious catalog, which includes over 700 records, there is no wrong way for Usher to construct his setlist. However, there are a handful of tracks that we’re hoping he’ll consider for his highly anticipated stage.
