Victor Wembanyama had his best game to date and broke records in the process last night in a 132-121 victory over the Phoenix Suns. They simply dominated in the first half. With 20 points, you could argue that Wemby was the best player on the court last night.
The French native gives the same aura rookie Shaquille O’Neal did when he came into the league in dominant fashion in 1992. Wemby gives shades of Kevin Durant because of his size and ability. However, he’s his player and Durrant told the media postgame the same.
“I don’t see anybody else in his game, I know we’re both skinny and I’m sure he said he watched me growing up, but he’s his player. He’s his own player, he’s going to create his own lane.”
Wembanyama finished with 38 points, ten rebounds, and two blocks. Only three teenagers have had this stat line with two blocks. LeBron James and Kevin Durant are the perfect company. A special game, and the only player to score 35 or more as a rookie was Michael Jordan in three games, only two games late.
His late-game heroics and how he scores in bunches are what impresses fans so much about the teenager. Look at his stats in the final minutes compared to the Suns’ whole team.

The rookie flashed all over the court, and at this rate, like Stephen A Smith said Friday morning, he could be a potential rookie All-star.
"He can ball. He's a special talent man. … Wembanyama's the real deal. He'll probably be an All-Star as a rookie."
