Former NFL quarterback Vince Young is not here for the current talent in the NFL. But, according to Young, since the league is just handing out paychecks, he believes deserves another shot, at the very least.
Young, 34, discussed the Arizona Cardinals’ decision to pick up Blaine Gabbert in May, despite the quarterback’s previous experience and lack of success. As the discussion continued, Young called out Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick for his poor performance in the league, as well.
“I hate to name-drop, but [Ryan] Fitzpatrick is still playing!? He leads the league in interceptions, and he’s still f*cking getting paid? I mean, what the f*ck is going on?”
Young revealed he hasn’t watched too many football games since he left the league but he’s been appalled by performances of the players that the league continues to pay.
“I’d see a quarterback and be like, ‘Dude is garbage, and I’m over here in the kitchen cooking turkey necks!?,” Young told the publication.
Young also called out his former coach, Jeff Fisher, claiming he sucked the fun out of the game.
“I’m going to expose his ass,” Young said as he discussed a situation when the team left him in Philadelphia.
“I feel like Fisher did that sh*t on purpose,” Young said, adding that the former Titans coach held the plane for other players in the past but not him. “I’m pulling in, seeing them pull the door down. I can hear the team yelling.”
“Where I’m from, that’s like saying F you,” Young recalled telling the former coach.
Back in 2014, Young announced his retirement from the NFL. Three years later, Young’s comeback campaign commenced as he signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. Two months later, the baller got injured in training camp, prompting the organization to waive him. Now, it’s been six years since Young played in the NFL and 11 since being picked third overall by the Tennessee Titans.
